How to fix Outlook search or Outlook Indexing Issue
Outlook indexing issue normally occurs when outlook stops searching automatically from its catalog built by email messages in outlook and you may see a message “Instant search encountered a problem while trying to display search results. Modifying your query may resolve this problem“. Hence to fix outlook indexing, you may need to rebuild search index by following the below steps.
- Open the Elevated command prompt as administrator. To learn how to open elevated command prompt as administrator click here and scroll down to fifth radio button.
- In the command window type “rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL srchadmin.dll” then press Enter on your keyboard.
- After the command executes, you will see the below window on your screen.
- Now click on “Advanced” button then it will open the following window.
- Select “Rebuild“. Now it will come back to main window and start indexing where you can see the progress of indexing.
NOTE : Indexing may take hours to complete hence you may have to wait till it is completed.
- Once the indexing is complete, you will see the below window and select Close.
