When a website does not have an SSL certificate deployed or its certificate has expired, you, as the end user accessing that website, will keep getting the message ‘your connection is not private’ in Google Chrome or any other web browser.
On the other hand, sometimes you get message “Your connection is not private” even when you open any website in any web browser from your windows computer.
In such case, this is the issue with your computer date and time settings or also expired certificates installed in computer. It is recommended to fix these issues on your computer, or you can also visit the website by clicking ‘Advanced’ and then ‘Proceed to xyz.com (unsafe)’ below the message.
You may still access that website by clicking Advanced button shown in the figure below even though your connection is not private although it is not safe but sometimes it is mandatory to access website.
If your computer has expired publisher certificates installed or if you have an incorrect time and date on your Windows computer, you can access the website by following the steps below.

After you click on Advanced you will see an option, to continue accessing website by clicking “Proceed to abc.com (unsafe)“
Just continue accessing website, you will be able to visit the website.
Note: This is not a problem with the web browser installed on your Windows computer; it is actually a security certificate issue on the website’s host end or when the website does not have an SSL certificate installed or its SSL certificate has expired. And also if time settings, in your computer are different that actual time can also cause this certificate error in any web browser installed in your windows computer.
Your connection is not private
It is not recommended to access websites that do not have an SSL certificate or have an expired certificate. We recommend to close web browser as soon as you see this message – “You connection is not private”.
